PNG Media Summit 2025
REGISTER NOW: Involved in public media engagement? This event is a must-attend for all practitioners of public media.
The Media Council of Papua New Guinea will be staging its first national media summit in Papua New Guinea.
It is the first event which the Council hopes will gather media professionals currently engaged in the industry, policy makers, and media academics to discuss emerging media technologies and its impacts on ethics and standards in Papua New Guinea’s media sector.
The Summit, running under the theme: ‘AI, Ethics and Standards in PNG’s Media Future’, will feature as a highlight keynote speaker, Mary-Lourise O’Callaghan, an award-winning journalist with years of experience in Public Affairs, including her report on the Bougainville Conflict and the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) operations.
The summit will also address important topics like the impact of Artificial Intelligence on journalism, the role of women in media, and the fundamental importance of media freedom in the region.

2025 PNG Media Awards
The 2025 PNG Media Awards signals the return of this annual MCPNG Event as a beacon of encouragement for journalists and media to continue investigative work, adhere to professional ethical standards, and be dedicated to truth and transparency, aiming to foster an environment where these values are increasingly recognized and upheld.

Newsmakers Series
The MCPNG Newsmakers Series of events is the Council’s signature discussion event which occurs four to six times a year, and includes in-person events and/or exclusive online or TV discussions with top names in news, politics and culture.

MCPNG ‘Monthly After Deadline Media Mixers’
MCPNG Monthly After Deadline Media Mixers bring together media members of the Council to interact, engage and network with other industry professionals and people in the news.
These networking events are where media representatives can speak to the work they do, and collaborate with like-minded professionals from other sectors in both government and the corporate sector.

PNG National Press Club
The Media Council of PNG’s PNG National Press Club (PNGNPC) is the Council’s signature public discussion exchange platform.
This is aimed at strengthening rapport and discussion between the industry, Newsmakers, and the general public.
